Why I decided to enlist in the military
Ever since I was a little kid I was immediately intrigued by the military and it’s history. I read and watched movies and soaked in everything I could as a young kid. Going to Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day presentations always made me think to myself how badly I wanted to be one of those guys someday. I don’t have any immediate family members that served and I feel like this is something I was meant to do. I want to be able to serve my country and do something meaningful. What it comes down to though is I want something both my family and myself can be proud of.

Why I chose the Army
As a little kid I wanted to join the Marines very badly, but as I got older and learned more about the way each branch operated I leaned more toward the Army and it’s ability to let me secure my job when I signed my contract during fall of 2019.

Basic training location
Fort Jackson, South Carolina

Basic training dates
6/30/2020

Job in the military
I’m going to be 68W or combat medic specialist. I chose this because because my original choice, firefighter, is not really being offered as an MOS for active duty. So 68W was the next closest job that would resemble some aspects of firefighting. Also being a medic will give me the opportunity to be on the front lines which is something I have always dreamed of.

Family in the military
No I don’t, which has been a small part of my choice to enlist.
