What a great and emotional moment, as well as a significant milestone for us. This afternoon the Ben Jackson Memorial was able to give out its first monetary award by presenting Trenton Eisch with a check for $500 to help cover his travel expenses home. Trenton is visiting home on leave from his ship, USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) homeported in Mayport, Florida, where he is an Aviation Support Equipment Technician.
Trenton’s friendship meant so much to Ben over the years, so we were very happy to be able to give the Fund’s first award to him. Since his ship was deployed, he could not make it home for Ben’s funeral in April. It was great for us to be able to spend time with him.
